Collecting a Soil Sample for pH Testing

By Pam Brown, Urban Horticulture Agent, Pinellas County Extension

It is important to know the pH of your soil when determining what to plant in an area. This short video explains the proper technique for collecting a sample of your soil for pH testing. Once you have collected your sample, bring it into our office at 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo 33774, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may bring in more than one sample but the cost for each soil pH test is $5.00. More information about soil pH is available in the University of Florida/IFAS publication "Soil pH and the Home Landscape or Garden" (http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/SS480)
